Passport Applications & Irish Citizenship

Existing Irish Passport Holders and First time Applicants.

Irish passports renewal and first time applicant applications can be done online now. This is the fastest and cheapest way to get your passport processed. Once you have your digital  photograph and a valid credit card you can go ahead and apply online. You will then mail your supporting documentation on to Dublin.

Irish Citizenship by descent, the following information can be found on the Department of Foriegn Affairs web page Citizenship, am I an Irish citizen:  If you or your parent(s) were born on the island of Ireland before 2005, you are an Irish citizen. You can apply for an Irish passport without making an application for citizenship.  Children of grandparents born (You only require one grandparent) on the island of Ireland, can be eligible for Irish citizenship by descent and become an Irish citizen through Foreign Birth Registration.  Once a person is entered onto the Foreign Births Register they are an Irish citizen and entitled to apply for an Irish passport.
